Labette County board renews administrative contracts, extends superintendent agreement

The Board of Education for Labette County Unified School District 506 voted Dec. 8 to renew several administrative contracts, including a three-year continuation for Superintendent John Wyrick through the 2028–29 school year. Rich Falkenstien moved to approve the renewals and Kevin Cole seconded; the motion carried 6-0.
The renewals include one-year continuations through the 2026–27 school year for assistant and building principals listed in the agenda (Shane Holtzman, Tiffany Flatt, Spence Allison, Tim Traxson, Donny Peak, Melissa Green, Stacy Smith and Trey Thompson). The board recorded the superintendent’s contract as a three-year continuation through 2028–29. Board member Greg Bogner, one of the trustees recognized later in the meeting, thanked colleagues and said he felt “truly blessed to be part of a great school board.”
Board procedure: Rich Falkenstien made the motion to approve the administrative contracts as presented; Kevin Cole seconded and the board voted 6-0. The action was recorded as a formal renewal of personnel contracts; no amendments to contract terms were made at the meeting.
