The Select Board approved two expenditures from the fire equipment reserve account (4040300-24471): up to $32,000 to purchase structural firefighting gear and $9,200.91 to fund repairs on the department’s 2012 Ferrara fire truck. The board moved and approved both releases and authorized the fire chief to use the funds for those purposes.
Board members clarified the gear request: several sets are to outfit new hires and one set is for an on-call firefighter; existing gear is worn and needs replacement. “Two sets are for new hire...and one set is for an on call firefighter that is geared,” a board participant said during discussion. Members noted that some existing gear does not fit correctly or is not compliant and agreed replacement was appropriate. On the vehicle repair request, the board described the work as repairs to existing equipment rather than a new truck purchase and approved release of the specified funds.
