The Chesterton Board of Zoning Appeals on July 23 appointed Katie Halligan as the board secretary after staff member Gail Morawski said she is retiring after more than 20 years of service.
President Kowalski called on Morawski to introduce Halligan; Morawski told the board she was “moving into full retirement” and that “Katie will be stepping in until further notice.” Halligan told the board she has worked for the town about seven and a half years, primarily in the clerk‑treasurer’s office, and said she was “excited to take on this new capacity with the town.” The board then moved to appoint Halligan and approved the motion by voice vote: “Aye. Motion carries.”
The board thanked Morawski for her service and wished her well. Staff and board members said they would rely on Halligan for the routine administration of Board of Zoning Appeals duties moving forward.
