Administrators informed the board that insurance renewal negotiations produced a 12% increase in premium costs. "We will be at a 12% increase on that rate," a staff member said, adding that brokers negotiated the rate down from a higher initial projection.
To address the higher premiums while maximizing employee benefit, staff recommended maintaining the employee monthly contribution at $650 and directing additional district resources into salary increases. The board moved and approved the renewal with Blue Cross Blue Shield as recommended by the insurance committee.
