Board OKs plan for Charger Enterprises CTE startup funded by grant

A staff member outlined a new CTE initiative called Charger Enterprises that would operate as district-run career‑technical businesses including a coffee shop, fabrication (welding and woods), greenhouse and plant/animal sciences. "So with this grant, we will have, $325,000 for start up costs," the staff member said, adding that the grant does not pay for capital projects.
The staff member asked the board for permission to study space options, including moving some activities to the district office and adding a garage door on the south end to allow equipment access. Board members and staff discussed phased implementation, equipment orders and necessary code and fire‑marshal approvals before students would be scheduled into the new space.
