The council reviewed a draft Article 3 addressing work-site utility vehicles, golf carts and all-terrain vehicles and made several policy determinations.
Members agreed to correct wording in the golf-cart section, to accept factory-installed turn signals for UTVs (removing the retrofit requirement), and to require insurance for golf carts. The council set a proposed initial registration fee of $20 and an annual renewal fee of $10 for applicable vehicles and indicated the city would recognize registrations from other cities. Clerk Wade and Chief Mathies noted spelling and wording corrections to be made before adopting final language.
Council also clarified that dirt bikes and motorcycles remain governed by standard traffic laws, and that some sections required only minor textual corrections. No final ordinance was adopted at the Sept. 18 meeting; changes were discussed and staff were asked to revise the draft for a future agenda.
