City outlines unhoused-coalition coordination and service-directory plans

The agency official said the coalition created a policy used during recent heat waves and level 3 snow emergencies to announce changes in shelter operations and resources. That coordination led a local provider with a generator to offer shelter during a power outage. "We actually put out, hey, we're in hydration, etcetera... 50 north actually offered to stay open because they have the generator now and they were actually gonna be a shelter for individuals," the agency official said.
Separately, staff said the resource-directory website is currently maintained by Focus Recovery and Wellness but budget strains have limited their capacity. The city is evaluating what taking over the directory would involve and whether it could be incorporated into the municipal website to provide an accessible service-navigation tool for residents and partner agencies.
Next steps: staff will produce a plan outlining resource-site takeover costs and operations and will continue to refine the coalition’s inclement-weather communication protocols.
