City expects flood-mitigation groundbreaking; corridor improvements advance

Findlay City staff told the strategic-planning session they are nearing a groundbreaking for a flood-mitigation project and invited members to attend the ceremony once the date is finalized.
"I will hopefully in the next week or 2 be able to announce a groundbreaking on the flood mitigation project," the session moderator said, adding invitations will follow. Staff also said fundraising conversations for a downtown recreation area are progressing and that engineering work has reached 60% design for the downtown park improvements.
On transportation, the city reported contractors should be on site soon at Western and Sandusky to install a stoplight and a new turn lane, and preliminary designs exist for a roundabout near the Lake Cascades/old Chase Bank site and for an intersection at Sandusky and Bright. The moderator said the city worked with ODOT on a corridor safety assessment from 237 to Main Street and that recommendations are under review.
Next steps: staff will provide updated cost estimates from the contract manager at risk and will return with refined designs for the park and corridor projects as value-engineering work completes.
