Council votes to offer Dallas Gosselin contract as Norton city administrator, contract to be finalized at June 3 meeting

The Norton City Council voted to extend an offer to Dallas Gosselin for the position of city administrator, with an intended start date of June 4, 2026, and directed that the conditions of employment be laid out in a formal contract to be approved at the June 3 city council meeting. Council member Gerald moved to offer the contract and the motion received a second and passed.

“I move to offer Dallas Gosselin a contract for the position of city administrator for the city of Norton, Kansas to commence on 06/04/2026 with the conditions of employment being outlined in said contract,” said Gerald while making the motion. A council member clarified that “there is not a contract tonight” and that the offer would be extended pending the contract that will be ready at the next meeting.

After the motion carried, the candidate addressed the council. “Thank you, folks. I appreciate it,” said Dallas Gosselin, and added he looked forward to working with the council “in a more professional capacity.” The mayor said the council anticipates having the contract on the June 3 council meeting agenda for formal approval before the stated start date.

The council’s vote extended the offer but did not finalize a written employment agreement; the formal contract was placed on the June 3 agenda for approval as the next procedural step.
