Council approves temporary closures for Aug. 22 car show

On July 6 the Kalona City Council approved a temporary street-closure resolution to accommodate a community car show on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026.
Resolution 2026-T authorizes the closure of 5th Street from C Avenue to A Place and B Avenue from 4th Street to 6th Street from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. that day. The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Council Member Bender, seconded by Yeggy-Berg, and passed unanimously. The resolution authorizes the mayor and city clerk to sign the paperwork required to effect the closures.
Event organizers and the city will coordinate logistical details including traffic control and public notices before the event date.
