Board tables $7,500 ag/FFA donations amid questions over written agreement
Summary
Three local farmers verbally pledged a combined $7,500 in annual support for the district's ag/FFA program, but board members raised concerns that commitments were verbal and students had already been told; the board voted to table acceptance until December.

Speaker 6 reported that three local landowners — identified in the meeting as Perry Thompson, David Davies and Don Jones — had verbally committed $2,500 each per year to support the ag program and FFA, for a total of $7,500 annually. "I've committed $2,500 a year to the program, each, as local landowners," Speaker 6 said when describing the donors' pledges.
Board members questioned whether there was a written agreement, how the donation had been presented to students and whether the donation implied any future obligations tied to an unrelated solar project. Speaker 6 said there was no written agreement and that the check and cash had been provided but not yet deposited. One board member said they were concerned students already knew about the donation and that the presentation should have occurred before the class.
Because the board did not have enough affirmative votes to accept the donation at the meeting, Speaker 1 moved to table action on accepting the $7,500 donation until the December meeting so members could obtain clarification and any necessary documentation. The motion to table was recorded during roll call.
