Aitkin’s Riverboat Days returns July 31–Aug. 1 with veteran and first-responder honors

Stephanie Mallett, executive director of the Aitkin Area Chamber of Commerce, said Riverboat Heritage Days will be held July 31–August 1 and that organizers are centering the celebration on veterans, active military and first responders as part of the U.S. 250th observances. "Riverboat Heritage Days is happening on July 31 and August 1 this year," Mallett said, and the chamber selected a theme that recognizes "our veterans, our active military, and our 1st responders."
Mallett described a full weekend of activities spanning Friday and Saturday: vendor and food-truck fairs, a street dance, a pancake breakfast, a run/walk rally, the Atwater car show, farmer's market, children's duck races and a parade scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Saturday. She noted the event has expanded from a single Saturday to multiple days to better showcase the community and allow partner groups and businesses to align their events around the same weekend.
