A city representative (S10) presented the plan and said the project estimate is $105,000 to replace the fixtures with LED lights across five fields. The presenter said she is applying for a T‑Mobile grant worth $50,000 (due Sept. 30) and requested $25,000 from the Community Foundation; "best case scenario" would leave roughly $30,000 to split; worst case the city and district would each cover half. The presenter described the LED fixtures as plug‑and‑play units that mount on existing crossbars and do not require new poles, and noted a five‑year warranty for continuous use.
Board members asked about phasing, field backstops and nets, and installation timing relative to sports seasons. Board president (S5) moved and the board approved the 50/50 partnership motion not to exceed $55,000 for the district share. Administrators and city staff said they will pursue grant funding first and provide the board with documentation and a proposed memorandum of understanding if grants are awarded.
