The Bellevue Planning/Zoning Commission voted to recommend a package of code “cleanup” text amendments to the city council on Jan. 5, forwarding staff’s draft with two staff-proposed edits. Commissioner (S1) moved to recommend the changes; the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff member (S4) described the package as largely clarifications and administrative streamlining rather than new policy. “We keep a running list and then come back to the next year with our final version,” S4 said, and noted council will be the final deciding body, tentatively scheduled for Feb. 9. Commission discussion focused on wording and enforcement clarity rather than substantive policy shifts.
The package includes changes to sign-code language, administrative handling of routine subdivision adjustments, a clarified stream-bank definition that will add the word “riparian,” and administrative review language for accessory dwelling units. Commissioners asked staff to confirm enforcement mechanics and to return any suggested edits before council review. The commission closed the public hearing portion and recommended the ordinance be placed on the council docket.
