The Legislative Coordinating Council voted to amend LCC Policy 38 to set May 31 as the cutoff date for legislators’ newsletters and mailings in any calendar year.
"I move that on we adjust policy 38 to strike the words the day the regular session of the legislature adjourns, and change and add May 31," Majority Leader Croft said during the meeting. Representative Brandon Woodard seconded the motion. Council Chair called for the voice vote and the motion passed.
Council members said the change was intended to eliminate an annual exception process tied to election years and to make the policy administratively simpler. Tom Day, who introduced the item, explained the amendment is a small, clarifying change to the policy language and noted the updated date is reflected in the packet for members to review.
The motion passed by voice vote; no recorded roll-call tally was given at the meeting. The Council’s staff will incorporate the amended language into the official Policy 38 document and circulate the updated policy to members.
