Waste Management representatives told council that after the June 15 annual report they implemented several operational fixes that have materially reduced queuing on Winooski Road. Jason Willie described reopening an existing pad ('Z wall') for residential unloading with staging for around seven vehicles, moving a handrail to meet OSHA, adding flaggers and containers, and increasing hauling capacity by contracting additional trailers.
WM also reported staff recruiting and an equipment operator transfer scheduled to start Aug. 1; the company said it plans expanded operational hours and committed to returning in a few months with data on wait times, missed pickups and comparative KPIs versus regionally similar facilities. Councilors praised the immediate improvements and requested continued reporting.
