The Newberg Urban Renewal Agency opened its July 20 meeting with a series of leadership appointments, electing Councilor Torgerson as board chair by unanimous voice vote after nominations and a brief discussion about continued representation of affected districts.
Chair Carmen introduced nominations; one member nominated Derek and another nominated Jerry before nominations were withdrawn and Councilor Torgerson was approved. The board also confirmed a vice chair and appointed Robin as the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) chair, with members describing the CAC’s occasional role in reviewing contentious proposals.
All leadership appointments passed unanimously. After completing appointments, the agency moved on to substantive agenda items, including considering a minor plan amendment tied to the de‑annexation of four parcels.
