Britney, the commission's designated agent, summarized the staff review and the applicant's materials and stated, “There were no wetlands found on the site.” Consultant George Logan, who testified for the applicant, explained that although adjacent parcels have alluvial soils by taxonomy, the soils on the subject parcel do not show the recurring activity that would trigger regulation under Connecticut's wetland rules. After brief commissioner questions about historical mapping methods, a commissioner moved to approve the map amendment (mover recorded in the meeting record) and the motion passed.
The approved amendment applies only to this parcel; mapped wetlands on neighboring properties remain unchanged until those parcels are delineated individually. The commission directed staff to update the town's official wetland map and include the soil-scientist report in the public file.
