Council addresses enforcement items, empty-house utility charges and declined grant

During unfinished business the council recorded multiple enforcement and reporting items. The Fair Housing Act will be involved in follow-up about Chastain’s goat violation, the council said. Separately, the minutes state that empty houses and buildings will start being charged for utility services beginning this month. Keeler’s fence application was denied but staff observed that fence braces may have been installed prior to the denial.
The clerk’s report and code report were presented alongside a library and Pride Committee update. The minutes also note that a Kansas Wildlife grant was declined because the State indicated a need for the funds; no dollar amounts or alternative funding were recorded in the minutes.
