Council approves terms to allow property owner extra time to comply

Mayor Kris Semisch opened a public hearing at the Nov. 18 meeting where Jeff Rivers asked for additional time to bring his property into compliance. Council members emphasized appropriate communication with city staff and reiterated that harassment of staff would not be tolerated.
The council agreed on terms that will be formalized in a resolution to be adopted Dec. 2, 2024: Rivers is allowed until spring to complete his house, must provide progress updates every 30 days, and will be responsible for reconnecting utilities and paying associated fees. Councilmember Kyle Hrabe moved to approve the resolution terms; Councilmember Michelle Bryant seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
The council did not adopt the final resolution at the Nov. 18 meeting; it will be presented for formal adoption on Dec. 2. The city clerk/manager, Jodie Laidler, is the staff contact for monitoring the required progress updates.
