During the budget hearing portion of the meeting, business manager Lynn Langford outlined projections for the 2026–27 fiscal year and the factors that create uncertainty.
Langford said the district projects a $112,717 deficit for 2026–27 and explained four key unknowns that will affect the final numbers: the official student count, equalized property value, state equalization aid and final levy confirmation. She also reported special-education costs continue to outpace revenues and that a transfer to Fund 27 is projected at $859,327 for the coming year. "We will not have the official student count until the 3rd Friday in September ... therefore, we will not know the final tax levy until at the school board meeting on the October 21," Langford said.
Board members discussed how moving positions (such as the mental-health coordinator) between funds has affected the district’s operating budget and highlighted the district’s recent efforts to reduce prior deficits. The business office will bring finalized figures to the October board meeting after state aid and student-count information are available.
