The Auburndale School District board approved a proposed tax levy of $3,266,056 for the 2026–27 fiscal year after a presentation by business manager Lynn Langford.
"The proposed tax levy is estimated at $3,266,056 with a projected mill rate of $6.02," Langford said while walking the meeting through the annual meeting booklet. Board members debated components of the levy, particularly increases to the community service fund to sustain services such as the school resource officer and a community mental-health coordinator. The board adopted the levy by voice vote; the chair declared the motion carried.
Board members said the levy covers general operations, required debt service tied to recent referendums, and community-service line items the board prioritized. Langford told the meeting the district’s referendum-related debt is about $9,865,000 and that the levy was set to keep mill-rate swings limited. The budget and final levy remain subject to state data updates (student count, equalized value and aid estimates) ahead of the district’s October board meeting when final figures will be confirmed.
