The Larned City Council approved a contract recommendation Feb. 2 to purchase a replacement SCBA air compressor for the fire station.
Fire Chief Hearn told the council the existing compressor is outdated, increasingly difficult to service and will not support the new SCBA units the department plans to buy later this year. Five vendors responded to the city's request; Chief Hearn recommended the WEIS Fire and Safety Equipment bid for $41,449.00, which he said came in under what had been budgeted for the replacement.
Councilmember Jason Murray moved to accept the WEIS bid and Councilmember Sharon McGinness seconded; the motion passed. The transcript does not include a formal roll-call tally. Staff will proceed with procurement consistent with the accepted bid.
