Committee to forward proposal to transfer 1996 fire truck to Abington for interim use

Fire Chief Ed Glassman told the committee Upper Moreland has a 1996 Pierce Quantum that Abington Fire Company would use on an interim basis while awaiting a new rig. Glassman said the transfer could be done for a nominal amount or by inter‑agency agreement and would benefit shared training and operational coverage.
Mike Jones, chief of the Abington Fire Company, thanked the commissioners for considering the request. "There's little value in a 31‑year‑old fire truck on the market, but there's a huge value to us to have an interim piece to run while we're waiting for the arrival of our new truck," Jones said. Staff recommended preparing the inter‑agency agreement and a resolution for the August full‑board meeting; commissioners agreed to move the item forward.
