Board approves Head Start MOU and five‑year Lehigh University affiliation

Trustees approved an annual Head Start memorandum of understanding for transition planning and a five‑year affiliation with Lehigh University to host student teachers in Parkland schools.
At the July 21 meeting the board approved administrative recommendations to maintain partnerships meant to support early childhood transitions and teacher preparation.
Miss Faciano presented item 7.7a, an MOU with Head Start/Early Head Start of the Lehigh Valley to guide transitions of children who have attended Head Start programs; the agreement renews automatically each year on July 1. The board voted to approve the MOU.
The board also approved a five‑year affiliation agreement with Lehigh University that will allow college students to complete student teaching experiences in Parkland School District. Miss Faciano thanked the administration for securing local college affiliations as a part of building the future teacher pipeline.
Both motions carried without recorded opposition; the approvals were presented as part of the academics, arts, and athletics committee agenda.
