Public commenters asked the board to demand data and protections regarding noise, continuous cooling‑fan operations, and heat‑island effects from the proposed Atlas data center.
Dwight Adam told the board that data centers run 24/7 and generate constant low‑frequency sound from fans and intermittent noise from generators; he said chronic exposure to such noise can impair concentration and cognition, and asked the board to ensure the district’s students and staff will not be negatively affected.
Residents also raised concerns about heat‑island effects on athletic fields and outdoor activities, potential declines in property values, and limited availability of grant funding for mitigation. Adam asked the board to “speak up” and to press township and developer officials for assurances.
The superintendent said the district has raised these issues in written comments to the township and developer, has reviewed proposals with experts, and will continue to press concerns about decibel levels, low‑frequency noise, and other engineering questions as part of the township review process.
