City manager highlights Sterling Heights' high property-value rankings and Sterlingfest lineup

City Manager Mark Vanderpool opened his report by sharing annual property-valuation rankings that place Sterling Heights among the state's top five communities and first within Macomb County.
"In our residential sector last year grew on average about 6%," Vanderpool said, attributing valuations to safe neighborhoods, volunteer programs such as SHINE and active economic development. He said the ranking is a point of pride for the city and its residents.
Vanderpool also reviewed community events: Sterlingfest will run July 23–25 at Dodge Park with nightly concerts and a 5K that had more than 650 registrants; National Night Out is scheduled for Aug. 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with fire and police apparatus on display and opportunities for residents to meet first responders.
