City approves kiddie dolphin slide and installation for Elmer Swimming Pool

City staff proposed replacing a loud, seldom-used pool feature with a small dolphin slide for young children and reported they raised private funds to cover the purchase. The slide unit was quoted at about $20,500, with additional installation, plumbing and electrical work bringing a not-to-exceed budget of $22,000.
"The slide's actually 20,500, but then there'll be some installation rooms and stuff," staff said. A motion to approve the slide purchase and installation for up to $22,000 and to use city staff for installation assistance passed by voice vote. Staff identified Associated Supply Company, Inc. and selected vendors for installation and plumbing; the city will assist where possible.
Council discussed safety, installation responsibilities and whether the slide height (about three feet) was appropriate for the pool. The motion was approved and staff will proceed with procurement and scheduling.
