A council member explained the vacation is the initial step in replatting the south parcel of the former Stoddard School site to facilitate sale. "We do have a contract, to sell this to Hobby Development or one of their affiliated entities, and we've already got a redevelopment agreement with that entity for the development of this parcel," the council member said. The council confirmed the city remains the owner and that vacating the current plat is a procedural requirement for the planned development.
No public questions were raised before the council voted. The ordinance was given number 26-22 and recorded as passed during the meeting.
