Scott County libraries expand teen programming, pilot in‑school events with Shakopee Schools

Library advisory board members and staff described efforts to reengage teens across Scott County branches, including activities such as a Nintendo Switch tournament, wire art, seed mosaics and teen-led summer book clubs for upper elementary students. "Teen library shelvers are leading summer book clubs," one board member noted.
Staff said a pilot partnership with Shakopee Schools placed programming inside schools late in the school year, with at least a dozen students participating in some events. The library will discuss whether to continue school‑based programming after conversations with school officials in August and will track repeated attendance to measure sustained engagement.
