Dolly Parton Imagination Library set to launch in Jordan; postage funding secured by community partners

The Scott County Library told the county board that the Dolly Parton Imagination Library will begin in Jordan as soon as a final agreement with the post office is completed and logistics are finalized. Jennifer Schultz, Scott County Library Director, said the national Imagination Library supplies the books but local partners must fund postage and distribution.
"The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a really cool program that allows anyone in the that has the, ZIP code to get free books from 0 to 5," Schultz said, adding the program sends one book per month for five years. Schultz said postage is about $31 per child per year and that the Beckyus Foundation and local clubs such as the Jordan Commercial Club have agreed to act as funding partners so county dollars are not needed.
Schultz said the library has designed the rollout so each ZIP code will open when postage funding and postal logistics are secured. The library is also prepared to accept individual donations to support the postage costs. Next steps include finalizing the postal agreement and sharing signup details with families in Jordan.
