A Rochelle Park resident told the Township Committee she fears for her safety after repeated illegal parking and aggressive behavior linked to a business at 168 Central Ave.
"I do not feel comfortable living in this town anymore," Ivy Catherine said during public comment, describing daily parking that blocks driveways, drivers who curse at or threaten neighbors who photograph license plates, and repeated late‑night activity. She said she has taken photos and provided license plate numbers to police but that the problem persisted.
Mayor Miller and Administrator Samantha Carpio said the construction official is issuing summonses when violations occur and the township has contacted the county about signage options on the county road. Township Attorney John Scotino advised that photographs can be filed as evidence and that a terroristic threat could be prosecuted in superior court if a resident was threatened: "That could be considered a terroristic threat," he said, and recommended discussing the threat with police.
Committee members asked staff to set a follow‑up meeting with the resident and the police chief to review enforcement steps and possible standing patrols in the area.
