Volunteers, donors credit success of Enfield’s 250th "Party in the Park"

Sue Young, who identified herself as part of the Enfield 250th Anniversary Committee, told the Select Board the committee’s July 11 “Party in the Park” drew “over 300 people, probably closer to 400” and ran from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event featured three live bands, four food vendors, a beer garden supplied by Optimistic Brewery, a dunk tank hosted by the Mascoma Athletics Booster Club, face painting and a community antique weapons exhibit in the community center.
Young said the celebration was funded entirely through donations and singled out Shirley Green for raising “over $10,000 for the 250th celebrations and for Old Home Days.” She also thanked Jake’s Deli and Market and owner Bruce Bergeron as the largest donor. The committee provided attendees with a souvenir beverage koozie printed with Jake’s logo and the event logo, and many local volunteers and school AV club members handled logistics.
The board praised the organizers’ approach and said they will consider suggestions for repeating the event. Tracy Young (Select Board member and energy committee participant) thanked the committee and said the idea of making the celebration an annual offering is under consideration. The committee said it will welcome suggestions from the board and public if the event returns in future years.
