The superintendent reported that architects and engineers have begun preliminary cost estimates for potential bond projects including ag facilities, a weight room and middle-school renovations. The architects will return to focus groups and staff for additional input and will consolidate options into a single recommended concept with cost estimates in the coming months.
"They'll be back Monday to meet with our focus groups for the ag, weight room, and the middle school renovations," the superintendent said, adding that the architects would refine concepts and present a consolidated option for board review. The superintendent also proposed forming a small oversight/finance task force of community members, staff and one board member per group to review the estimates, consider grant and other funding options and help frame what should be included in any bond package.
Board members discussed timing (targeting an upcoming bond election in November), capital-outlay timing (March planning) and whether to use capital-outlay funds on items such as a cafeteria floor or add them to a bond package. Administration said final scope and funding decisions would be brought back for board approval when plans and cost estimates are complete.
