The board approved buying a 10-passenger Ford Transit from the state bid (Shawnee Mission Ford) with a limited-slip differential, trailer-tow package and brake controller for a recommended total of $60,233. Administration said the van will be used for athletic and activity transport where the district needs an extra vehicle for smaller loads.
"So this bid that you have for $60,233 includes the limited slip, the trailer tow package and the trailer brake controller," the presenting staff member said when introducing the recommendation. Board members discussed whether to wait to see how existing trailers and the new large trailer would be used but ultimately approved the purchase to maintain a usable fleet for spring activities.
The motion passed on a voice vote; administration said the van is on the lot and ready for delivery pending procurement steps.
