Superintendent Emily announced that Lori Sawyer, a fourth-grade teacher, has submitted her retirement notice effective at the end of the 2024–25 school year (June 30, 2025). The superintendent read a passage from Sawyer's letter expressing gratitude for years in the district: "I've had many happy years here at WBS and I've enjoyed my teaching career immensely. After all these years, I still love teaching..."
Emily said Sawyer has served 40 years in the profession and 35 years at the West Bath school. Board members expressed appreciation for Sawyer's long service and agreed the district will honor and celebrate her in the spring when she prefers to make a public recognition.
