Board identifies six school projects that could be funded by 1% sales-tax revenue

Presenter Harris read a list of six projects already in the school CIP that the county would consider funding with revenue from a 1% local-option sales tax restricted to school capital projects.
Harris listed: a reliever elementary school in the Dale District near Old Hundred Elementary; the full build-out of Matoaka Middle School; completion of Midlothian Middle School; a high-school gym and major renovation at LC Bird; Thomas Dale campus improvements; and several campus-specific improvements discussed by school division staff.
Harris estimated the projects in this particular funding stream would amount to roughly $65–$70 million and said the county could accelerate those projects if the referendum passes and bonds are issued.
