Montrose council approves MOU letting county manage small voter-account funds

The City of Montrose City Council approved a memorandum of understanding intended to simplify management of small election-related funds that pass from the Secretary of State to counties and then to cities. Staff said the city generally receives only "a couple $100 a year" and recommended the county handle those funds to avoid recurring paperwork and staff time.
Staff described the estimated administrative burden and costs: about $600 a year for maintenance of the DS200 voting machine, periodic election judge payments, and an estimate of roughly $1,600 every other year in expenses related to processing reimbursements. Council moved, seconded and voted 4-0 to approve the MOU.
