Council keeps existing amphitheater building, adds project to 2027 CIP and seeks funding

"Every one of them have agreed and said, yes. This would be super nice, and it's very achievable to make happen," Rocky (staff) said of contractor feedback on the concept, while the city manager said a small state capital budget award in the $50,000–$100,000 range might be available to assist the project. Mayor Murphy and other council members raised safety and sightline concerns related to fireworks, and staff said they have discussed relocation and crowd-control options with the fire department and neighboring West Carrollton.
Staff will continue refining estimates, factor in the savings from not demolishing the structure, and present budget numbers in future meetings as part of the 2027 CIP process.
