Council approved preparing legislation to transfer $3,000 from full-time wages to the building maintenance overtime line after finance staff said overtime had exceeded the budget for the year.
"A significant amount of this was caused by the Fourth of July celebration," the finance director said, noting the city did not anticipate a two-day event and that restroom trailer setup contributed to overtime hours. The director said there are sufficient savings because one part-time and two full-time maintenance positions remained vacant this year and the vacant wage budget (approximately $166,000) could cover the transfer.
Chair Miss Marcus moved to have legislation prepared and the roll-call vote recorded unanimous approval among present members. Staff will return with the prepared legislation for formal adoption.
