Council appoints three supporters to voters' pamphlet committee for Transportation Benefit District renewal

Public Works Director Chris Phillips told council staff had published notice seeking volunteers to serve on pro and con committees for the sales-and-use tax renewal for the city's Transportation Benefit District. He presented three in-favor nominees and said no applicants asked to serve on the against committee.
"The individuals wishing to serve on the in favor committee were Lou Ann Gordon Burkout, Gary Molineaux, and Suzanne Butler," Phillips said. Council moved to appoint the three nominees; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Phillips said he would notify the county elections office and complete required paperwork by the August 4 deadline so the committee statements could appear in the local voters pamphlet.
Councilors asked about outreach to ensure both sides had an opportunity to participate; staff said the elections office will accept applications and that the city will post notices on its YouTube channel and other outlets. The appointment was approved with no recorded opposing votes.
