Board adopts acceptable-use language to reflect new state statute on parental device filtering

The superintendent said the statutory change requires districts to allow parents to request extra filtering and recommended adding the language to the acceptable-use document. "The statute requires that we have to allow parents to do some additional filtering on student devices, and we're just saying that we are going to do that if it's requested," he said. Staff confirmed that parents already have the ability to filter from home and that the new wording formalizes that option in district policy.
A board member moved to accept the updated acceptable-use language and the motion carried by voice vote (3–0).
