A city staff member moved the recommendation that staff “explore the parking-lot well landscaped option with the help of Lester Limon as our primary option,” and a second was recorded; the committee then voted to forward the recommendation to Council. Chair (committee) said the motion is a recommendation only, not an implementation step, and that the item would be placed on the August council agenda for direction to staff.
Committee members and downtown stakeholders had debated several alternatives earlier in the meeting—ranging from fully activating the site with restrooms, kiosks and shade structures to a phased approach or a hybrid parking/activation plan. The motion passed with committee support to bring a defined scope and cost estimate back to the council for consideration.
