The Levy School Board on July 27 approved a tentative agreement (TA) the administration presented for teacher and staff compensation, moving the package forward for ratification by the union.
Kim Lake, who presented the negotiated TA, said the agreement defines a veteran teacher as "10 plus years and a full time classroom teacher" and that "their estimated annual recurring increase will be 2,850." She told the board the Teacher Salary Increase Allocation (TISA) language in statute restricts how the district's allocation may be applied, and that the district's portion of that allocation was shown in presentation materials.
Lake described a two-tier approach for instructional staff: full‑time classroom teachers meeting the veteran threshold will receive the higher per-person recurring increase and other instructional personnel will receive 50% of that rate. She also noted loyalty bonuses are included in the package and corrected a slide error during the presentation: "That should say 1000 dollars... it's correct on the TA, but copy and paste fail there. Sorry." The TA also fixes the pool of eligible teachers as of August 21 for calculation purposes.
The board moved, seconded and approved the TA on a voice vote after the presentation. The motion carried with the affirmative voice response recorded as "Aye." Lake cautioned that several elements are estimates because statutory allocation language and staffing changes can alter per-person amounts; final administration recommendations and ratification steps remain before the increase is fully implemented.
