City staff says $30,000 park base project planned for FY27; pickleball and plaza events moving forward

A staff presenter briefed the committee on the budget status and upcoming capital projects for parks. Department heads are working to rebalance the city budget, but staff confirmed an anticipated park project of roughly $30,000 will be budgeted in fiscal year 2027 and will use reserves and grant funds.
"There will be, an anticipated park project for about $30,000 to improve the base to basically redo that base stage ... We're gonna budget that in to spend that in fiscal '27," the staff presenter said. The presenter explained $23,000 of that amount comes from a combination of a $20,000 grant and $3,000 from a mayoral walk challenge, with the remaining funds from development-impact capital savings.
Committee members also discussed the pickleball project and sound remediation: the plan is to install a mix of solid and transparent sound panels hung on the inside of the fence and to complete landscaping later in the summer. Staff previewed a plaza activation slated for June 18–19 that would close part of the right-of-way for programming to demonstrate possible future permanent uses.
