Residents press Council over RE Digital communications contract; Council says multiple firms considered

Resolution 2025-150, authorizing the award of a contract to RE Digital for website and communications services, was on the consent agenda adopted by the Council on Aug. 26.
During the public portion several residents criticized the decision and urged more transparency about the hiring process. William Spych told Council he was concerned the mayor’s backing of the contract could cause problems; Patricia Griffith said that although the current website has issues she did not believe RE Digital was the best option. Jen Reppert raised allegations of bid splitting related to past events and questioned why RE Digital alone was invited to present publicly. Mayor Hutchins and other Council members responded that multiple companies and individuals were interviewed, the Township considered cost and fit, and that RE Digital was selected as the best match for the Township’s needs. The consent agenda, which included Resolution 2025-150, passed on a 5-0 roll-call vote.
Council did not remove the resolution for separate discussion; residents asked for additional detail about the procurement process and whether reforms promised after past controversies had been implemented. Councilors said they would rely on the administrator and solicitor to explain procurement protocols in follow-up communications.
