Board approves state transitional bilingual instructional program grant

The Kiona-Benton City School District board approved acceptance of a state transitional bilingual instructional program grant and the conditions that accompany it. Interim Superintendent Jack Anderson said the grant is primarily funding staff positions and professional development tied to bilingual instruction.
"It's really it's being used for, staff members mostly, majority of the grant, and then also for professional development," Anderson said when summarizing the grant's use. He told the board the state requires the board to accept the grant conditions and outlined where the allocation is described in the board packet.
Board members moved, seconded and approved the acceptance of the grant conditions by voice vote. No dollar amounts were discussed at the meeting; Anderson said details of staff allocations and professional development are included in the documents provided to the board.
