Principals report classroom moves, new dismissal plans and renewed focus on character and mental health

Principals from the district's three schools updated the board on back-to-school operations, building maintenance and several student supports.
Elementary Principal Lisa said the school completed painting and moved roughly 19 classrooms over the summer to prepare for the new year; families will be notified of monthly student awards through ParentSquare and the school will start "Character Strong" assemblies (first scheduled for Oct. 2). She also said staff are working with transportation to reduce dismissal errors and to ensure students board the correct buses.
Middle school Principal Davidson said staff are focusing on school climate and respect as a character trait, revamping student recognition systems, starting POCs to set student goals and promoting Suicide Prevention Awareness Month with partnerships including the student counselor and leadership class to share resources including the 988 hotline.
The high school principal reported strong fan turnout for fall athletics, that assemblies were rescheduled to reduce lost instruction time, and that an IT "land school" pilot will let teachers more easily check student screens to keep students on task. Board members thanked staff for visits and noted the positive community support.
These presentations were informational; no formal board action was taken on the principal reports during the meeting.
