The Ogemaw County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to provide pretransit rides for voters on the August 4 election date.
Administrator Francine explained interim transit director Ray Blamer brought the request to the transit board and it was forwarded to the commission. Commissioners clarified the service applies only on election day (Aug. 4) and covers transportation from a resident's home to the polling place and back, not to other destinations such as grocery stores. The board voted to approve the resolution by roll call.
Officials said the service has been provided in prior elections and the resolution authorizes advertising the service for this election.
