New Port Richey official briefed board on potable and reclaimed-water projects

Colin Eichmuller, Public Works Director for the city of New Port Richey, gave the board a member-government update on the city’s potable, sanitary and reclaimed-water systems. Eichmuller said Starkey Well Field provides the city’s main raw water supply and the city’s potable water treatment plant averages about 5.6 MGD; reclaimed production averages roughly 5 to 5.5 MGD and supports irrigation and other nonpotable uses.
Eichmuller reviewed ongoing and planned projects including West Grand neighborhood utility upgrades, smart-meter replacements and sewer-system improvements aimed at septic-to-sewer conversions and improved reclaimed distribution. He said future reclaimed expansions will be prioritized by needs-assessments and customer demand in identified neighborhoods.
